In Flames vocalist Anders Fridén has named his personal "best album ever." It's a massive distinction to award any album, but the metal frontman gives that honor to Alice in Chains' legendary second album, Dirt.
Fridén name-dropped Dirt during an interview with Chaoszine after being asked about his "most important idol or role model." "I have a few. Layne [Staley] from Alice in Chains was a huge lyrical inspiration, and Alice in Chains is one of my top bands ever."
Fridén also named Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor, Depeche Mode's Martin Gore and David Bowie as personal idols, but even with the immeasurable influence of those artists, it's Alice in Chains' masterpiece that Fridén gives top honors to.
"Dirt is probably the best album that ever was," Fridén raved.
In Flames covered Alice in Chains' "Down in a Hole" on their 2017 covers EP, Down, Wicked & No Good. The three-song release featured In Flames taking on Depeche Mode's "It's No Good" and Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" along with the Alice in Chains classic.
