Peter "Mean Pete" Kowalsky — the prolific vocalist of metalcore and hardcore bands including Remembering Never, Until the End, xBISHOPx and Ether Coven — has passed away.
Kowalsky was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in early 2020 and had been battling the disease since then, undergoing surgery, chemotherapy and other treatments. During a period of remission, he even took the stage at 2021's Furnace Fest in Birmingham, Alabama, joining Shai Hulud on the song "For the World." Unfortunately, things soon took a turn for the worse and the aggressive cancer returned.
As news of his death spread, Kowalsky was remembered by friends, fans and peers including members of Hatebreed, Unearth, Zao, Terminal Nation, and more. Read some of their tributes below.
Rest in peace.
