Sleep's titanic Dopesmoker recently disappeared temporarily from streaming services like Spotify, but on Friday it's blowing back in, as the band readies a new reissue of the stoner metal classic. On Friday, along with the album's return to streaming, Third Man Records will make a new black vinyl variant available to pre-order, as well as a limited edition variant featuring real cannabis leaves pressed into the vinyl, in "mosquito-in-amber" fashion, so you can finally hear it in pure sticky-icky fidelity. It's kind of like Jurassic Park, only if the velociraptors were a little mellower and had a craving for some Doritos.
Both editions of the Dopesmoker reissue will also feature the rare bonus track "Hot Lava Man," a fittingly burly but much shorter riffer, which you can hear below.
The cannabis-leaf version of the album will be available exclusively at Third Man's Detroit store, due to the tricky legalities of selling a "Weedian Hi-Fi" product. Pre-order the standard black vinyl variant here.
